Although Sophrology is increasingly recognized for its benefits, its action may seem abstract.
A person who has already experienced it can say: “it feels good”.
A person, who has never experienced it, may wonder how and in what way sophrology acts on our brain & our well-being.
When we take stock of a day, we can classify 2/3 of the events as stress factors.
Stress of punctuality, pressure at work, an important reminder, an urgent appointment, traffic jams…
A job that we like, necessities and obligations, and we end up putting everything else before ourselves.
« Vivement les prochaines vacances ! », car c’est finalement le seul moment où l’on pense à soi.”Can’t wait for the next vacation! “, because it is ultimately the only time when we think of ourselves.
What if we recharge our batteries before the holidays? Why wait until you’re exhausted to do it?
Give yourself a few minutes to recharge, put your brain on “off” and let the body recover fully through relaxation or well-being techniques.
Practiced regularly, the effects are real and measurable: you recharge your internal batteries!
You bring to yourself what you need; isn’t that a path to happiness?
As humans, we have a system that regulates and maintains the balance of our “inner environment”.
This balance is maintained by our vegetative nervous system, responsible for the involuntary activities and functions of our organs, glands and blood vessels.
In this system, there are two branches: the sympathetic system and the parasympathetic, similar for the body to a brake or an accelerator for a vehicle.
The sympathetic circuit is the one that pushes us to action, it is motor, and will generate stress, and the hormones associated with it: adrenaline and noradrenaline. The whole body is accelerated to be able to take action
Conversely, the parasympathetic circuit will induce relaxation & calm and maintain the involuntary functions “at a minimum” in order to conserve our vital energy. This is what happens during sleep.
As for a vehicle, we need these 2 systems both the accelerator and the brake.
Through our daily lives, our sympathetic system is constantly solicited.
Our parasympathetic system serves as our recharge at night.
Sophrology, and other relaxation techniques, activate the parasympathetic circuit, thus allowing the recharging of our body, and the maintenance of our internal balance.
When this inner balance is maintained, our immune system is better organized, we gain vital energy, and our internal weather remains much more balanced too!
